Traditional Use
Developed in the 1990s as a synthetic ceramide designed to mimic natural ceramides found in skin barrier lipids. Ceramides were identified as key components of the stratum corneum, and synthetic versions were created to repair compromised skin barriers and reduce transepidermal water loss.
