This review of 9 studies found that dietary supplements containing bromelain and vitamin C may help reduce swelling and symptoms related to chronic venous disease (like varicose veins and leg swelling). However, none of the studies looked at these ingredients alone or together — they were always mixed with other supplements, so we can't say for sure how much bromelain and vitamin C individually are responsible for the benefits.
