Cloudberry leaves are packed with antioxidants—specifically polyphenols at 19% concentration—that perform 60% better than Trolox (a standard antioxidant benchmark) at neutralizing free radicals. The leaves contain flavonoids, caffeic acid, and ellagic acid, plus fatty acids and carotenoids that researchers say could be useful in cosmetics and supplements.
Researchers used advanced lab techniques (NMR spectroscopy and mass spectrometry) to identify and measure every compound in cloudberry leaf and fruit extracts, then tested their antioxidant power in controlled conditions.
