Silk fibroin—a protein from silk fibers—shows real promise as a wound dressing material. It's biocompatible, breaks down naturally in your body, reduces inflammation, and speeds up healing in various wound types (including burns and diabetic wounds), performing better than some commercial dressings currently available.
