When women with recurrent yeast infections took probiotics plus lactoferrin alongside standard antifungal treatment, they had significantly fewer infections come back: only 29% had recurrences after 6 months, compared to 100% in the placebo group. They also reported less itching and discharge at the 3 and 6-month marks.
48 women with documented recurrent yeast infections were split into two groups—one received probiotics (specific Lactobacillus strains) plus bovine lactoferrin, the other got placebo. Both groups used standard antifungal cream, then continued their assigned treatment for 6 months to track recurrence rates.
