Findings

Researchers reviewed 26 studies on cannabinoids for skin conditions and found promising results for inflammatory disorders—specifically CB2 receptor agonists worked for systemic sclerosis and dermatomyositis, dronabinol helped with trichotillomania, and CBD plus THC reduced pain from epidermolysis bullosa. The catch: most research is still early-stage, and we need more data on dosing, safety, and how long you can actually use these products.

Methodology

Scientists searched medical databases for all published human studies on cannabinoids and skin from 1965 through October 2020, then filtered down from 248 studies to 26 that actually tested these ingredients on people (excluding animal studies and reviews).
