Findings

In lab tests, Bifida Ferment Lysate (a fermented probiotic extract) boosted production of skin barrier proteins and antimicrobial peptides in human skin cells. It also showed strong antioxidant activity, reduced inflammatory markers like IL-8 and TNF-α, and protected cells from oxidative stress in a dose-dependent way.

Methodology

Researchers tested BFL on human skin cells in petri dishes rather than on living skin, measuring how it affected barrier-strengthening genes, antioxidant activity, and inflammatory responses under controlled conditions.
